What are compulsions and obsessions?
A compulsion is any behaviour that you feel compelled to perform. You might have this craving at regular times in the day or in response to specific stimuli. An obsession is a behaviour which must be performed, usually in a specific pattern, with a set number of steps, and also with repetition. Usually a person suffering from an obsession might have to check their door is locked 100 times in a specific way. They can only let go of the pattern once they complete it perfectly 100 times for example. This is called OCD or obsessive compulsive disorder.

You will know if you have a compulsion or obsession from this description. If you do, you will also know how it negatively impacts upon your life. Some people actually become housebound until they have completed their particular pattern.

How can hypnotherapy help me?
Hypnosis has the ability to influence the unconscious mind, the part which controls desires and behaviours, so you can learn to let go of the compulsion and perhaps replace the compulsion or obsession with something more useful. We use various hypnotherapy techniques and NLP to help you to overcome this disorder.

Sometimes there is an emotional component to the behaviour and hypnotherapy can help to uncover this, address and solve any underlying emotional issues.
